A big THANK YOU to all who joined us on September 6th to celebrate Downtown Leonardtown’s anniversary as an officially designated Arts & Entertainment District! Shops and restaurants were open late, guest artists were present at many of the galleries and art studios, and one-evening only specials were offered by many shops and restaurants.
Although the 40+ outdoor musicians, vendors, and guests were canceled due to the weather there were still plenty of opportunities for fun and things-to-do around town. Many “walked the walk” and voted for their three very favorite pieces as part of the Art Walk contest. The works of 35 different local artists are displayed at participating locations through the month of September, many are for sale by contacting the artist.
Congratulations to the top three winners of the Art Walk contest (by popular vote) and also to Chris Tanner who won the random drawing prize from those who casted a voter ballot.
1st Place – Erik Cotton (The ColorCaster), 2nd Place – Toni Wolf (Golden Petals), 3rd Place – Jody Brouwer (Sparkle Visions)
SAVE THE DATE for our next event on October 4th from 5-8 PM for “Leonardtown Fall Fest” which will feature a free concert by “Cowboy Crossing”. Check the Leonardtown First Fridays page on Facebook for details and info about this and other planned activities (pumpkin decorating, Scarecrow Stroll, selfie stop in Downtown, “mini pumpkin chunkin”, the Drum Circle, specials at the shops and restaurants, and more!)
A huge note of appreciation to St. Mary’s County Arts Council, Maryland State Arts Council, the Town of Leonardtown, the St. Mary’s County Commissioners, Leonardtown Business Association (LBA) members, Sheila Klotz of the SoMar Drummers, the First Friday volunteers, photographer Jenn Dorsey, and LBA Platinum Sponsors (Leonardtown Chevy Buick GMC, Marrick Homes, Quality Built Homes, & Visit St. Mary’s) who all helped to make Art Walk a wonderful community event! #ArtWalkLtown #LeonardtownFF
