Leonardtown businesses will be teaming up to raise funds to benefit the Loaves & Fishes Soup Kitchen, operated by the First Saints Church and volunteers to help feed the hungry in our community. Participating restaurants and stores have planned special fundraising opportunities for First Friday, November 3rd to help support the Kitchen’s mission to provide meals for the needy.
Big Larry’s, a generous supporter of Loaves & Fishes throughout the year, will be cooking up a special “Thanksgiving Sub” with turkey and all the trimmings – $2 will be donated to the cause for each of these super subs sold. Larry will also be offering homemade cupcakes for just $1 and donating 100% of the proceeds, as well as 10% from all ice cream sales from 5-8 PM will go towards the fundraiser.
Prefer pizza? You are in luck as the Olde Town Pub’s menu of the evening will include $10 one-topping pizzas with $5 from each sale going to Loaves & Fishes.
Also be sure to stop by The Good Earth Natural Foods Company as they have pledged 10% of their event sales to support the Soup Kitchen, we recommend one of their delicious smoothies and anything from their colorful produce section! They also will also have a demo of Emerald Health Bioceuticals products with Andy so be sure to say hello and learn something new about healthy living at The Good Earth between 5 pm and 8 pm “Where Good Things Happen”!
There will also be donation boxes in businesses throughout town, if you donate at BTB Coffee Shop and Speakeasy you could win a $50 gift card! Other merchants will also have specials to raise money, be sure to ask or look for signs posted. We appreciate your support in helping us to help others and look forward to seeing you on November 3rd! Make Leonardtown your “Special Place To Be” every First Friday.
The audience participation Drum Circle will also be continuing from 7-8 PM, their fall through spring location will be at St. Mary’s County Arts Council at 22660 Washington St. Bring your own instruments or use those provided by the Somar Drummers, doors will open at 6:45 PM for everyone to be seated and get ready to drum!
