One of the featured events on “Pink Friday” will take place at 5:45 PM , don’t miss the revealing of Leonardtown’s debut Public Art Project, supported in part by the Maryland State Arts Council. Come by the front entrance to the Town Hall at 22670 Washington St. (located in the heart of the Arts & Entertainment District) to meet Southern Maryland artist Parran Collery and be one of the first to view “The Naturalist Bench”.

Parran is a talented member of the North End Gallery and creates exquisite tile art and mosaic pieces. Accompanied by her sweet doggy Uma, Parran works from her home studio designing, molding, sculpting, kilning, and glazing – each piece is completed from start to finish by the artist herself. Inspiration for this particular project was drawn from observations of the beauty and wonder of the natural world which surround and encircle us.

Through the intertwining of plants and trees, an array of animals, and elements of both water and earth, Parran has collectively created tile masterpieces of a variety of shapes and sizes. Join us for this special ceremony then enjoy the rest of your evening right here in Leonardtown. Other First Friday events from 5 PM on will include:

  • The Uplifting Designs Contest – come vote for your favorite decorated bra, each piece will be accompanied by a pink bucket where you may “vote” with your donation to our Pink Friday Fundraiser. 100% off all donations will be presented to MedStar St. Mary’s for their cancer support programs.
